SCHOLARSHIPS UPDATE

ATOD Scholarship Event Changes

Recently the board of ATOD undertook a review of the State and Australasian Scholarship Event format and rules and have agreed on some significant changes.

A fully revised document is being developed and will be ready for communication soon.

Main Changes:

  1. Contemporary is being added as a new genre for Junior, Intermediate and Senior only.
  2. All sections that had two dances of two minutes in length will now become ONE dance of three minutes length, in costume with unrestricted (own) choreography. For Tap this includes, but is not limited to Traditional and Street styles. Music with or without lyrics may be used. For Jazz this includes but is not limited to Traditional, stylised, commercial or cabaret styles. The music should be up tempo with or without lyrics.
  3. The age of entry is being changed to 1 January of the year of competition.
  4. All genres will have the same ages so that Jazz, Tap & Hip Hop now align with Classical Ballet.

For clarification this now means that next year the following ages apply across all genre:-

    – Mini-Dancer – up to 9 years of age as at 1st January 2023

    – Sub-Junior – up to 11 years of age as at 1st January 2023

    – Junior – up to 13 years of age as at 1st January 2023

    – Intermediate – up to 15 years of age as at 1st January 2023

    – Senior – from 17 – 21 years of age as at 1st January 2023
