Musical Theatre uses song, dance and acting to tell a story and is rooted in the diverse history of Broadway musicals. Relying heavily on a knowledge of ballet, tap, and jazz, Musical Theatre dancers place a high focus on musical interpretation.Â
The Musical Theatre System of Training

This System of Training provides students with the knowledge of vocal work, dance and drama which then culminates in a performance of Musical Theatre. This genre is driven by passion and participation as students become a âtriple threatâ as singers, dancers and actors.
The programme is geared towards students aged five and upwards. There are four levels, each consisting of four elements. These include:
Act 1: Â Â Â Vocal
Act 2: Â Â Drama
Act 3: Â Â Dance
Act 4: Â Â Performance section- which combines all of the other three sections.
The first three levels are suitable for students of any age up to approximately 12 years. A Curtain Call completes each level.
Examinations can be taken in the genre and a report, certificate and medal is awarded to the successful candidates.
Teachers of the Musical Theatre System of Training do not require any specific vocal training, particularly in the lower levels.
The System of Training includes:
- Extensive teaching notes, an accompanying DVD and CD and student theory booklet.Â
Whether itâs singing, acting, dancing, performing and just enjoying, itâs incredible what young performers can accomplish when they are given the right training and guidance. This well-constructed System of Training will add FUN and DYNAMICS to dance studio programmes!
