As Australia’s largest membership based dance organisation, we have over 30 years experience educating and supporting our dance teachers who teach in excess of 50,000 students from two years of age through to adulthood. In addition, nearly 100,000 parents are also heavily involved with their children in dance and consistently support our Systems of Training, programmes and events.

Our members play a vital role in inspiring young dancers around the world. They provide expert dance instruction and create genuine relationships with their students, developing their confidence and inspiring them to be creative, daring and expressive performers. Students learn in professional studios that offer comfortable, friendly environments ideal for learning and personal development.

Indeed, teachers tell us that one of the most rewarding parts of teaching dance is the opportunity to engage with these young people, touch their lives and make a difference.

We provide a supportive and creative environment for our members by educating, inspiring and motivating them.

We educate, enabling them to learn new skills and apply these experiences, throughout our variety of programmes, conventions, teaching days, podcasts and webinars.

We inspire, fostering an environment where artistic minds come together and generate creative ideas, goals and clarity of purpose around what they will deliver as dance teachers.

We motivate, by supporting our members and each other as we work together as a community to remind ourselves of what we do and why we do it each day.

We also understand the passion of those wishing to reach their dance teaching and performance aspirations. As a Registered Training Organisation (RTO31624), we offer nationally recognised dance training courses and encourage our student teachers to dream big and reach their full potential as they obtain their professional qualifications and enjoy outstanding dance experiences.

These are the reasons why we work so hard in pursuit of all things dance and why those who love us support us unreservedly on our journey through dance.

Dance is the most popular art form to create unity. I love teaching dance because I have the privilege of inspiring students in my classes as we join as a community and share the passion of dance together.

MEMBERSHIP LEVELS & APPLICATIONS

Probationary Teacher Membership – $180.00

Probationary Membership may be helpful if you are currently completing your qualifications and wish to take advantage of ATOD Systems of Training during this time.

There is no application process for Probationary Membership and the membership period commences upon receipt of the completed membership form and fee.

Probationary Membership is issued for one year. During this year you may purchase teaching resources, enter students for examinations and competitions and generally enjoy the benefits of ATOD membership.

Prior to the expiry of your one year Probationary Membership you will be required to apply for Affiliate Membership.

Entry of students for examinations and competitions at all levels (scholarships not included)
Attendance at State meetings, voting at State level, holding office at State level and participating as a member on sub- committees

20% discount to all ticketed events on display of membership card not transferrable

Should successful application be made within or prior to the 12 months probationary period expiring, the fee already paid will be transferred over to the Affiliate Teacher Membership for the duration of the Probationary period.

Affiliate Teacher Membership – $180.00

If you are applying for Affiliate Teacher Membership you will have qualifications with another recognised dance organisation.

You must submit a letter of application with a cover letter, resume, copies of dance qualifications or certificates and a letter of recommendation from a person in the dance profession.

Associate Teacher Membership – $155.00

On passing the Associate Teacher Examination, you will be eligible to join as an Associate Teacher of ATOD and will receive a membership subscription form with your Associate Teacher Certificate.

Member Teacher Membership – $155.00

On passing the Member Teacher Examination, you will be eligible to join as a Member Teacher of ATOD and will receive a membership subscription form with your Member Teacher Certificate.

Licentiate Teacher Membership – $155.00

On passing the Licentiate Teacher Examination, you are eligible to join as a Licentiate Teacher of ATOD and will receive, with the Licentiate Teacher Certificate, and a membership subscription form.

APPLY FOR MEMBERSHIP

Applications for membership can be completed by downloading and filling out the PDF form below.

Applications are generally processed within a two to five day period. Applicants are advised of the outcome of their application by email.

The membership year runs from January – December and memberships are due by 28 February each year.

For new members, the new membership, once only registration fee, is $50.00 payable at the time of initial membership. A pro-rata rate is available depending on time of the year that initial membership is commenced.
