Victorian Syllabus Seminar and Revisions
Four days of intensive training and activity, involving many new members, as well as familiar faces, occurred in January at the Crazy Feet Studios in Burwood, Victoria. The four days were extremely well run, facilitated and administered by Karen Malek and Cheryl Witchell. We were lucky to have choreographers who had been part of the teams devising each syllabus to present the work in each style.
As well as learning syllabus work, the program provided a forum for new teachers to view and purchase syllabi, CDs and DVDs, ask questions and find out more about our society. Having examiners and Board Members in attendance helped immensely and many teachers new to our society were very impressed with both the friendliness and the professionalism of ATOD.
The first day was an introduction to our new Hip Hop syllabus. Bonnie Bourke, from Queensland and Shane Clarke took the seminar, which was met with great enthusiasm by all. The next two days were taken by Paul Malek on the highly-successful Jazz Moves syllabus, and the final day introduced us to the new changes and exciting new work in our Tap Syllabus. This session was taken by Paul Davis, and was followed by an open Tap class for all present.
Everyone agreed that it had been a most worth-while four days. We look forward to using the work in our classes, and to the continued involvement in our various activities of the new members.
