 Vicki Attard - Academy Ballet

Vicki Attard comes from Mackay, Queensland, where she studies ballet before her acceptance into The Australian Ballet School. In 1985 she joined The Australian Ballet and was promoted to Coryphee in 1987, Soloiste in 1991, Senior Artiste in 1992 and Principal Artiste in 1993.

Highlights of Vicki's career included dancing Kitri on the opening night of the Washington season, the title role of Manon in Tokyo and the opening and all subsequent performances of Cio Cio San in Madame Butterfly for the New York season.

Vicki retired at the end of 1999, and immediately undertook and received a Graduate Diploma in Dance Instruction. She commenced her teaching career focussing on many major Sydney institutions as well as touring companies.

Early 2001 saw Vicki assisting Stanton Welch in re-staging Madame Butterfly with The National Ballet of Canada for the ballet's North American debut, and subsequent American seasons with Atlanta Ballet, Boston Ballet and Houston Ballet in 2002. Later in 2003 Vicki oversaw the final staging of Madame Butterly for the Royal New Zealand Ballet. In 2010 Vicki assisted Stanton Welch in the re-staging of Madame Butterfly for The Australian Ballet.

Recently Vicki has become the Head of Academy Ballet's Semi Professional programme where she continues to provide specific coaching for pre professional students.

'My Pointe' DVD/CD is a unique program specifically designed by Vicki Attard to increase sensitivity, develop control, heighten awareness and awaken new muscles.
Vicki has developed this challenging 75 minute program to meet the needs of students and teachers requiring supplementary pointe work. The program is multi layered to adapt to the beginner on pointe right through to the full time dance student.
The program encompasses a long series of barre exercises,with detailed introductions, slow motion demonstrations and meticulous explanations by Vicki. The centre exercises progress to pirouettes, hops on pointe and turns en diagonale. "My Pointe' includes an audio CD to encourage practice at the correct tempo, an integral feature of the program.
This remarkable and distintive program has the ability to adjust to the dancer's existing capacity, and develop with their progression.
This is a ABSOLUTE MUST HAVE for all dancers on pointe!!
