Terrie Wayside - Life Coach & Mentor, Dance Creations
Terrie knew from the beginning that dance was her passion, despite the fact that her parents wanted her to learn tennis (this was a huge failure), but she won out and she has been dancing most of her life, and teaching for over 25 years.
As a "arts educator" she has also walked the path of personal and spiritual growth for the last 10 years; coupled with Mentoring and Coaching skills, she has plenty of tools in her tool box to assist your personal growth as an artist, teacher, or student.
It is Terrie's vision to inspire the artistry of living from the heart. Through unique, supportive and nurturing education we enable the creative expression of our true essence and unlimited potential, to allow the full blossoming of mind, heart and spirit.
Terrie is founder and owner of "Dance Creations" that offers a series of dance programs, Mentoring & Coaching plus speaking engagements on a range of 'art education' topics. Terrie has a Diploma of Arts (in Dance Instruction & Management), a Certificate IV in Mentoring & Coaching and a Certificate IV in Training & Assessment. She is a member of ATOD, Licentiate of MDEC, Toast Masters, International Coaching Federation (ICF), and Australian Women's Mentoring Network.
Presentation: Are we the best we can be?
Saturday 14 April (1.20pm - 2.05pm)
As a teacher we are the pivotal point of our class, we set the structure, content, mood, energy and boundaries. But have we ever asked ourselves
- Who am I as a teacher?
- How am I communicating with students/parents?
- How can I make a difference?
- How can I be inspirational?
It's so easy to come to class carrying the burden of the day. We may be feeling tired, frustrated, overworked, overwhelmed by responsibility, or we may be feeling fresh, energetic, enthusiastic.
Which class will be more successful?
As a teacher it is our job to motivate, engage and inspire our students, to open their hearts and minds and provide a space for them to learn that it is positive, nurturing and supportive. But we also need to have this for ourselves - how can we give from an empty cup?
When we began teaching, we were taught by our teacher, who was taught by their teacher, and so it goes on (like a photocopy or a photocopy). We have gained much wisdom, and it is fair to say we probably have some habits that by now need some refining. This workshop will give you tools and resources to :
- Discover more effective ways to communicating with you students and parents
- Feedback information that will inspire your students to want to achieve
- Create a quality classroom environment that is positive, nurturing and supportive
- Evaluate how you are communicating
